Why does my Display Screen say "Device is not certified by Google"?

The "not certified by Google" notice is a Play Store licensing notice, not a security problem. Registering your screen's device ID with Google removes it permanently in about 5 minutes.

What this message means

The ROAMiQ Display Screen is a purpose-built control panel, not a consumer phone or tablet. Google shows this notice on devices that have not gone through its Play Store certification program. It does not mean your device is hacked, infected, or unsafe. Everything on your Display Screen continues to work normally.

Depending on your device, the notice may appear as a small note inside the Play Store, a pop-up dialog, or a repeating notification sound. The fixes below work for all of them.

Check your software version first

On the Display Screen, open Settings → System. The version is shown at the top, for example v4.3.0.

  • 4.3.0 or newer — use the quick method below. Everything happens on the screen itself.
  • Older than 4.3.0 — either update first (recommended) or use the manual method further down.

Quick method

Applies to:Display Screenv4.3.0+
1

Open the certification section

On the Display Screen, go to Settings → System and find Device ID (GSF). That long number is what Google needs — the screen reads it for you, so there is nothing to install.

2

Open the Google registration page

Tap Open Google registration.

This copies your device ID and opens Google's registration page on the screen. Sign in with any Google account, paste the number into the box, and tap Register.

Prefer to use your phone? Tap Copy ID instead, then go to google.com/android/uncertified on your phone or computer and enter the number there.

3

Apply and restart

Come back to Settings → System on the Display Screen and tap Apply and restart.

The screen refreshes its Google registration and reboots on its own. If it tells you it could not restart automatically, unplug the screen for 10 seconds and plug it back in — that does the same job.

Manual method (software older than 4.3.0)

Applies to:Display Screenup to v4.2.16
1

Get the My Device IDs app onto your screen

You need a small free app called My Device IDs: GSF GAID viewer to look up your screen's device ID.

Because Google may block Play Store sign-in on devices showing this notice, there are two ways to install it:

Option A (try this first): open the Play Store on the Display Screen, sign in, and install My Device IDs: GSF GAID viewer.

Option B (if sign-in is blocked or fails): on the Display Screen, open the web browser and search for "My Device IDs APKPure" (the app's package name is com.github.kolacbb.ids). Download the app from APKPure and tap the downloaded file to install it. If the screen asks for permission to install from this source, allow it.

2

Find your device ID

  1. Open the My Device IDs app.
  2. Find the value labeled Google Service Framework (GSF). It is a long number.
  3. Tap it to copy it. Use the plain number version, not the version with letters in it.
3

Register the ID with Google

  1. On any phone or computer, go to google.com/android/uncertified.
  2. Sign in with any Google account (your personal one is fine).
  3. Paste the number into the box and click Register.
4

Restart the screen

  1. Restart your Display Screen by unplugging it for 10 seconds and plugging it back in.
  2. Wait a few minutes. The notice should be gone.

Still seeing the notice after restarting?

Google can take up to 24 hours to apply the registration.

On 4.3.0 or newer: tap Apply and restart in Settings → System once more. That already clears the Play Store's saved data for you, which is the usual reason the notice lingers.

On older software, clear it by hand:

  1. On the Display Screen, go to Settings → Apps → Google Play Store.
  2. Tap Storage, then Clear data.
  3. Open the Play Store again and check Settings → About. It should now say Device is certified.

If it still shows as uncertified after 24 hours, contact us through the support page and include the device ID number you registered. We are happy to help.

How do I check which software version I have?

On the Display Screen, go to Settings → System. The version appears at the top, for example v4.3.0.

Will this come back?

Registration sticks for that device. If the notice ever returns (for example after a factory reset), just repeat these steps with the same Google account.

Do I need to register every screen separately?

Yes. The device ID is unique to each Display Screen, so each one needs registering once. You can use the same Google account for all of them.

Is it safe to sign in to Google on the screen?

Yes. The registration page is Google's own, and it opens in a proper browser window rather than inside the app. You are only telling Google that this device is yours.
