Add bed lift controls to your Home Assistant dashboard
Add a Bed Controls button to your Home Assistant dashboard that opens a popup with Raise and Lower, so you can move your bed lift from any screen.
Once it's set up, your bed lift is one button away on your dashboard, next to your other controls. Add a camera to the card and the popup also shows a live view, so you can watch the bed while it moves. Setup takes about two minutes in Home Assistant's own dashboard editor, and you only do it once.
Before you start
- Your bed lift wired to a ROAMiQ Dual Channel Relay and showing up in Home Assistant
- A Home Assistant administrator account (only administrators can edit dashboards)
Add the Bed Controls button
Turn on edit mode
Open the dashboard where you want the button, then select the pencil in the top-right corner.
Add a card
Select + in the section where you want the button, then open the By card tab.
Pick the ROAMiQ Popup Button Card
Search for popup and select ROAMiQ Popup Button Card.
Name the button and pick an icon
In Name, type Bed Controls. In Icon, search for bed and pick mdi
Put the bed card in the popup
Under Popup Cards, select +. Then in Card Type, pick RoamiQ Bed Control Card.
Pick your bed
In Control Mode, pick Cover Entity (BLE Bed). That's the right choice for the Dual Channel Relay, because it shows up in Home Assistant as a single cover. Then in Cover Entity, pick the relay that runs your bed.
Two optional fields sit below: Card Name changes the title on the card, and Camera adds a live view so you can watch the bed while it moves.
Save and finish
Select Save, then select Done in the top bar to leave edit mode.
Using your bed controls
- Hold to move. The bed moves only while you hold Raise or Lower. Let go and it stops.
- Watch the status. The card shows Raising or Lowering while the bed moves, and Idle when it stops.
- One button, more controls. Edit the button and select + under Popup Cards again to add another tab to the same popup, like your awning.
Why can't I find the ROAMiQ Popup Button Card?
Check that you're on the By card tab, then search for popup. If it still isn't listed, reload the page and try again.
Why isn't my bed in the Cover Entity list?
The list shows every cover in Home Assistant, so a missing bed means Home Assistant isn't seeing your relay yet. Use your relay's wiring guide to check that it's powered and connected, then open the card again.
Why does the card say Not found?
The card can't find the relay it was set up with, which happens if that device was renamed or removed. To fix it, edit the button, open the bed card under Popup Cards, and pick your bed again.
Can I put the bed and the awning in one button?
Yes. Edit the button, select + under Popup Cards, and pick RoamiQ Awning Control Card in Card Type. Each card gets its own tab in the popup.
