ROAMiQ EcoFlow Control Chip: connect to the EcoFlow Power Link

Plug the ROAMiQ EcoFlow Control Chip into the Power Link's CAN port with the included cable, set both protocol switches OFF, and power the chip over USB-C.

The chip reads your Power Kit through the EcoFlow Power Link's CAN port, so you don't wire anything into the Power Hub, and your EcoFlow display and app keep working as before.

What you get in ROAMiQ

With the chip connected, ROAMiQ shows your EcoFlow's battery level, charging, and power use, and lets you switch outputs and Smart Panel circuits and set your charging limits.

Before you start

  • EcoFlow Power Kit with a Power Hub 3.6kVA or 5kVA
  • EcoFlow Power Link, installed and connected to your EcoFlow system
  • ROAMiQ EcoFlow Control Chip and the patch cable that comes with it
  • USB-C cable (not included)
  • USB power source that stays on when the engine is off (not included)
  • Double-sided adhesive pad or zip ties for mounting (not included)

Connect the chip

1

Find the CAN port

The Power Link has three RJ45 ports. Two are labeled EF BUS and one is labeled CAN. The chip goes in CAN. If anything is plugged into CAN now, unplug it. The chip needs that port to itself.

The EF BUS ports connect the Power Link to the rest of your EcoFlow system, like the Power Hub, the EcoFlow display, or a Smart Distribution Panel. Leave anything already plugged into them where it is.

2

Set both protocol switches to OFF

Next to the CAN port is a small block with two switches, numbered 1 and 2. Push both switches away from the ON marking.

Switch 1Switch 2The Power Link speaks
OFFOFFEcoFlow J1939 (use this)
OFFONRV-C
ONOFFNMEA 2000

EcoFlow J1939 is the protocol the chip reads. In any other position, the chip can't hear your Power Kit. The change takes effect right away, so you don't need to restart anything.

3

Plug in the patch cable

Use the patch cable that comes with the chip. It's wired to match the Power Link's CAN port, and a regular Ethernet cable won't work.

Plug the end marked ROAMiQ into the chip. Plug the end marked EF into the Power Link's CAN port. Push each plug in until it clicks.

4

Power the chip

Plug a USB-C cable into the chip's USB-C port, and the other end into a USB power source that stays on when the engine is off. The chip's light turns on.

The patch cable carries data only, so the chip always needs its own power.

5

Check the Power Link's light

Look at the Power Link's small white light:

The white lightWhat it means
Fades slowly in and outPowered, but nothing is talking on the CAN port yet
Blinks slowlyThe CAN port is talking. You're connected.
Blinks rapidlyThe Power Link is updating. Wait for it to finish.

The chip's own light doesn't show whether it's talking to the Power Link. Check the Power Link's light instead.

6

Secure the chip

Mount the chip near the Power Link with a double-sided adhesive pad or zip ties, so neither cable pulls on its port. Keep both cables clear of hot or moving parts.

Troubleshooting

The Power Link's light fades in and out instead of blinking

The Power Link has power, but its CAN port isn't talking to the chip. Check these in order:

  1. The patch cable is in the port labeled CAN, not EF BUS, and clicked in at both ends.
  2. Both switches next to the CAN port are OFF. You don't need to restart anything after you change them.
  3. The chip's light is on. If it's off, see the next section.
  4. You're using the patch cable that came with the chip. A regular Ethernet cable won't work.

The chip's light is off

Check that the USB-C cable is plugged in firmly at both ends and that the USB power source is on. If the light stays off, try a different USB-C cable or power source.

ROAMiQ says the chip keeps restarting

Check the chip's USB-C cable is plugged in firmly at both ends. If it keeps happening, try a different USB power source.

The Power Link's light is off

The Power Link gets its power from your EcoFlow system through EF BUS. Check your EcoFlow Power Hub is on and the Power Link's EF BUS cable is plugged in.

Battery 2 or Battery 3 shows no reading

That's normal if that slot is empty. Your Power Kit only reports a battery once one is installed there.

Can the chip connect to the Power Hub directly?

No. The chip reads your Power Kit through the EcoFlow Power Link's CAN port, so your system needs a Power Link.

Which EcoFlow systems does this work with?

The chip works with EcoFlow Power Kits built around the Power Hub 3.6kVA or Power Hub 5kVA, with an EcoFlow Power Link installed.

Can I keep using my EcoFlow display and the EcoFlow app?

Yes. They work alongside the chip. The display connects through EF BUS, and the chip uses the separate CAN port, so they don't compete.

Can another device share the Power Link's CAN port?

No. The Power Link has one CAN port, and the chip uses it. That port also speaks one protocol at a time, and the chip needs EcoFlow J1939, so an RV-C or NMEA 2000 device can't use it at the same time. Nothing else changes on the EcoFlow side: your EcoFlow display and app keep working through EF BUS, and ROAMiQ brings your Power Kit's readings in alongside the rest of your rig.

Can I use a regular Ethernet cable?

No. The Power Link uses nonstandard wiring on its CAN port, and the patch cable that comes with the chip is wired to match it.
