ROAMiQ MaxxFan Control Chip: wiring and installation guide
Wire the ROAMiQ MaxxFan Control Chip between the fan and 12V supply, connect the RJ45 cable, and place the chip neatly inside the fan housing.
The ROAMiQ MaxxFan Control Chip installs inline with the fan's 12V power wiring. The two power-lead pairs are interchangeable, so it does not matter which side of the chip faces the fan or the power source.
Connect the ROAMiQ chip
Disconnect the 12V power
Pull the appropriate fuse or disconnect the house battery so the MaxxFan cannot power on while you work.
Connect the MaxxFan power wires
Choose either pair of black and white leads on the ROAMiQ chip and connect them to the MaxxFan:
- ROAMiQ black (12V) connects to MaxxFan black (+12V)
- ROAMiQ white (GND) connects to MaxxFan white (GND)
Connect the 12V supply
Connect the remaining pair of ROAMiQ leads to the incoming power source:
- ROAMiQ black (12V) connects to +12V positive
- ROAMiQ white (GND) connects to ground or battery negative
Either side of the chip can connect to the fan. Use one lead pair for the fan and the opposite pair for the 12V supply.
Connect the RJ45 cable
Connect the MaxxFan control board to the RJ45 jack on the ROAMiQ chip. Press the connector in firmly so it is fully seated.
Place the chip inside the MaxxFan
Find a snug, protected spot inside the MaxxFan housing next to the factory control board. Arrange the chip and wiring so they stay clear of moving parts and the housing can close without pinching any wires.
Restore power and test
Check each connection once more, then restore the 12V power. Confirm that the MaxxFan powers on and responds normally.
Troubleshooting
The MaxxFan does not power on
Disconnect the 12V supply and check both power connections. Remember that the ROAMiQ black wire is +12V and the white wire is ground. Confirm that every connector is fully seated.
The chip is connected, but control is not working
Check the RJ45 connection at both the MaxxFan control board and the ROAMiQ chip. Unplug it, reconnect it firmly, and test again.
Did I connect the power leads backward?
The two sides of the chip are interchangeable. Either lead pair can connect to the MaxxFan or the 12V supply. Only the polarity matters: black to +12V and white to ground.
