ROAMiQ Espar Control Chip: wiring and installation guide
Connect the ROAMiQ Espar Control Chip directly to an Airtronic or Hydronic harness, match four wire colors, remove the terminator, and disconnect EasyStart Pro.
The ROAMiQ Espar Control Chip connects an Espar Airtronic or Hydronic heater to ROAMiQ through four circuits: 12V power, ground, CAN-H, and CAN-L.
For reliable ROAMiQ control, connect the chip directly to the main Espar harness. If EasyStart Pro is installed, disconnect it before continuing.
Before you start
- ROAMiQ Espar Control Chip and wiring harness
- Espar Airtronic or Hydronic wiring harness
- Appropriate automotive wiring materials for your installation
- Basic wiring tools
- Multimeter for confirming power and ground
Connect the ROAMiQ Espar Control Chip
Remove the gray terminator plug
Find the gray terminator plug shown in the wiring image and unplug it from the Espar harness. Keep the plug in a safe place in case the original system configuration is restored later.
Connect the four ROAMiQ wires
Connect the four ROAMiQ wires to the corresponding Espar harness wires. The ROAMiQ harness is not labeled, so use its wire colors and match each circuit exactly.

Reversing CAN-H and CAN-L prevents communication. Reversing 12V and ground can damage the hardware.
Secure and inspect the harness
Confirm every connection is secure and no conductor is exposed. Keep the harness away from hot or moving parts, and secure the ROAMiQ chip and wiring so they cannot rub against sharp edges.
Restore power and test
Restore 12V power. Confirm the ROAMiQ Espar Control Chip powers up and the heater appears in the ROAMiQ system. Send a basic heater command and confirm the heater responds normally.
EasyStart Pro is not compatible with ROAMiQ control
Use one controller for this installation. If EasyStart Pro remains connected, ROAMiQ will not be able to control the heater.
For ROAMiQ control, disconnect EasyStart Pro and connect the ROAMiQ Espar Control Chip directly to the Espar harness using the steps above. This gives ROAMiQ the direct connection it needs to control the heater.
Final wiring check
Before closing the installation, verify all of the following:
- 12V connects to 12V and ground connects to ground.
- The yellow ROAMiQ wire connects to Espar blue/red for CAN-H.
- The green ROAMiQ wire connects to Espar blue/black for CAN-L.
- EasyStart Pro is disconnected.
- The gray or any other separate harness terminator is removed.
- No conductor is exposed and every connection is secure.
- The harness is protected from heat, moisture, sharp edges, and moving parts.
Troubleshooting
The ROAMiQ Espar Control Chip does not power up
Confirm the heater circuit has 12V power, then verify the ROAMiQ 12V and ground connections. Check the applicable fuse and make sure the ground connection is secure.
The chip powers up, but the heater does not respond
Confirm the yellow ROAMiQ wire connects to Espar blue/red and the green ROAMiQ wire connects to Espar blue/black. Make sure EasyStart Pro is disconnected and no separate harness terminator remains while the ROAMiQ chip is connected.
